System quality group - Focus on mental health

Local Healthwatch across West Yorkshire are working together to ensure that people's voices are at the heart of shaping services at a West Yorkshire level. As part of this work, we presented to the West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board System Quality Group in March 2026 on people's experience of mental health services.

Quarterly report to the System Quality Group focus on Mental Health March 2026 cover.

What people in West Yorkshire are telling us about mental health services

We wrote a report to the quarterly West Yorkshire System Quality Group (SQG) meeting which had a focus on mental health. This report is provided by Healthwatch across West Yorkshire and is a summary of the key messages relating to people's current experiences of mental health services. It covers what people, their family and carers and professionals say about what gets in the way of good mental health, as well as people's experiences of accessing services.

This briefing paper was presented to the NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board SQG in March 2026 to support the 'Focus on' item - Mental health.

Health inequalities happen when people, for whatever reason, do not have fair access to health and care services. Services can make changes to make their care centred around the person so that they have equal access to others.
