How does it feel for me - Diane and Gemma
Diane is a retired woman who lives in Tingley, between Leeds and Wakefield. She likes spending time with her two daughters, Gemma and Georgina, who live nearby. Gemma enjoys being with her pets, being outdoors and cooking.
Diane is Deaf and uses British Sign Language. She has multiple health conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure and pain in her knee, which affects her mobility. Both Diane and her husband rely a lot on their daughter Gemma for support with accessing health and care services.
Diane is taking part in the How Does It Feel For Me programme to share her experiences and help make things better for other deaf people. Gemma would like to raise awareness of the impact that unfair access to services has on deaf people and their families.
