How does it feel for me - Laura, Abigail and James
Laura lives on the border between Leeds and Wakefield and has two children, Abigail (10) and James (6). James loves cars and animals and playing outside on his bike. He also has a rare genetic condition that has resulted in him having a heart defect, seizures, hearing and visual impairments. He is non-verbal and has mobility issues and can’t open his jaw, resulting in him being nil by mouth and receiving food through his button. Laura has had to give up work to look after James. She wants to be part of the project to help health professionals understand the impact of what they say and do on families.
