What people in West Yorkshire are telling us about older people's experiences of health and care services.

This briefing paper is provided by Healthwatch across West Yorkshire and is a summary of the key messages relating to older people's current experiences around health and care. It covers what older people, their family and carers and professionals say helps to keep older people healthy, what gets in the way of good health, as well as people's experiences of accessing health and care services.

This briefing paper was presented to the NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board in December 2024 to support the 'Focus on' item - Reducing inequalities for older people in West Yorkshire.

Health inequalities happen when people, for whatever reason, do not have fair access to health and care services. Services can make changes to make their care centred around the person so that they have equal access to others.
