What people in West Yorkshire are telling us about maternity services
This briefing paper is provided by Healthwatch across West Yorkshire and is a summary of the key messages relating to people's experiences of maternity services as well as experiences before pregnancy (preconception) that we had heard from people, particularly those who are at risk of health inequalities.
This briefing paper was presented to the NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board in March 2025 to support the 'Focus on' item - Reducing inequalities for people in West Yorkshire: Maternity and preconception.
Health inequalities happen when people, for whatever reason, do not have fair access to health and care services. Services can make changes to make their care centred around the person so that they have equal access to others.
